I've gotten 13 each time, but I REALLY miss the "drop-on-the-ground" system.
That was great fun

I like the system used for this festival. Players can AFK, party with friends, or do whatever they want and still get gifts.
Several players in the district I’m in were ticked when they found out that they weren’t going to be able to steal gifts like before. Their outrage was truly amazing.
I think it’s been cool to see how players have worked together and developed a system to beat the Grasps and win each time so far.
So yeah, good job A-net you’ve promoted teamwork! Plus you’ve recognized that a lot of players want to work on event related titles, however they may need to go AFK to sleep or deal with Real Life.
For what it’s worth, a friend and I have been in the same district since the gifting started. We get 13 to 14 gifts per session aside from any extras gained from running charges.
We're having fun ... w00t!

i see it as a good and bad thing with the auto assigning. I know many people who were grumpy because they didnt want the mask and lost their 250 tokens to the event. And I did really enjoy present camping in years gone by, but I know this game is for people to enjoy of all pc and connection standards and they wouldnt ahve a chance against people with better machines and internet connections so I can see it being much more fair this way.

Well a poll of my guild and alliance....the majority got 13 gifts per district drop. However many have recieved 26-28 per district drop. Doesnt seem to matter whether they were afk on rings or in towns, or whether they participated in the celestial running or not. The gift drop rate has been different even with toons in the same district at the same time. So grats to those fortunate enough to have been in the glitch.

atm, the account that was there the entire time has 26 and the other 2 have 13

yeah scratch that. for some reason, one of my accounts is just getting double presents.

This is a GREAT change. And I really do mean GREAT. <3 Anet.
For all those saying afkers should get nothing - then think about this.
Australia is +10 GMT on our east coast. The first finale event was 7pm GMT on Sunday. The last is 5pm GMT on Monday. Putting one and one together you should notice that the majority of the finale events occur in the middle of the night, or during the working day. In short, Australians are screwed almost every time there is an event because we can't physically be online during most of the events. The first one for me is around dinner time (doh) the second is around bed time (*sigh*) and the final occurs before I get home from work. How is this fair?
Thank you Anet for finally doing something that doesn't out and out disavantage people for living in a part of the world that isn't the US.

so I stayed in dist 6 for yet another go and got 25 this time.....not sure what I did differently---the character that is getting the extras is a canthan ranger while the other was a tyrian monk---and he ran the orbs, she (ranger) is just sitting.....

My present drops have ranged between 15 or so to 26. Another great bonus is I probably won't need to do any quests to get 250 Victory Tokens - as I've gotten 178 just from opening presents while AFKing in 9 rings. Also the present drops have funded my 9 ring participation, the 50K that I initially spent ran out hours ago. I just sell the red bean cakes and rice wine and can buy enough tickets for hours of play.

A terrible NERF happened.
Again.
How sucky.
They removed all the fun, destroyed the most fun part of the whole event with the nerf at 2007 Redux festival, now with the second nerf they also greatly reduced the number of presents possible to get.
It's now always ~13 no matter if the player is AFK all the time or actively participating and running 40++ of those Celestial Charges, before it was possible to get 40-120+ every 2 hours.
Now the event isn't worth coming to, it's only worth it if you're AFK doing something else!
So the Anet's policy is AFK >>> FUN because AFK = no lags?
Pathetic.

Oh and next year they can go even further with the nerfing, next step: just 3 presents per 2 hours, so it's 36 total, but as a change you won't even need to be afk - just come at your leisure any time after the event and talk to Imperial Supply Master to receive your 36 presents...
Freebies are good but NERFS are baaaaaad.
Active fun gameplay and getting 1000-1500 presents is far better than 156 for afking.

less lag = more fun doing stuff like dungeons or quests.
That's a plus in my book. Hope they do it for wintersday too.

For me it's not a nerf, it's a bonus. Before to get as many presents as I am now I had to make sure I was in the festival town at the correct time and collect my presents as they dropped. I don't have enough time to make sure I'm online to actively collect my presents more than a few times per festival, so this way I can just log in - go afk and collect my presents. I've collected much more this way than I would have the old way.
I'm sure that the old way was much better for people that had tons of free time, but I definitely like this way better.

The event takes place over a 24 hour period. No matter where in the world you are, you get the same number of day/night events.

I like this way much better because unlike the people complaining that have absolutely no job or life other than guild wars, I DO have a job to go to, a kid to take care of, house chores to do, and basically, a REAL LIFE. So, in result, I would normally miss out on all of the festival events except MAYBE one if I was lucky. This way, all i have to do is check in every once in awhile to make sure I'm still online and I can go back to my much more important son and chores and real life. It's still fun to participate in the event when i can, but with a baby that just learned to army crawl across the floor, I really can't be on the the computer for more than literally like 10 seconds at a time cause he's that quick that if I spend any longer he tears something apart or would have something fall down on him if I didn't watch him and go stop it from happening. I like this way MUCH better because it's still rewarding for those of that try to participate but just can't do it without having to get up to save our kids from a danger as simple as the floor fan... lol.
